On page 87 of Mac OS X: The
Missing Manual, in the box called "Up to Speed: Menulets: The Missing
Manual," there is a row of Menu Extras. One of these is the "Network
Settings." I can't seem to locate the setting to turn this menu extra on. How
do i do that?

In System Preferences, open the Network controls. On the PPPoE tab,
you'll find a checkbox called, "Show PPPoE status in menu bar." That's
the option that makes the menulet appear.
It would have helped, I now realize, if I had mentioned that this
menulet is useful only to people with a DSL connection that uses the
"PPP over Internet" technology. . . .
