iMovie 2--Ghost Handles

From: Gregory Zide
Date: August 2002

Mr. Pogue,

A quick note on "Chasing the Elusive Ghost Handles" (page 124 in iMovie 2: The Missing Manual).

I had a hell of time trying to get these little bastards to appear, and unfortunately, found the book's advice more discouraging than helpful. However, after about 40 minutes of yelling and saying, "Why in God sakes would anyone make a basic tool so inaccessible?", I stumbled on the method:

Push down the mouse key *before* moving it to the position on the timeline you want to work on. When you touch the magic area, kabaam, ghost handles. It seemed to make the whole process less sensitive, and as long as one started away from the timeline (even a wee bit), the iMovie 2 God always delivered.

Gregory

That's an absolutely terrific trick. I'll be sure to put it into the next printing of the book. Thanks for passing it along!

David
