XP Features

From: Bud Hogan
Date: August 2002

I find that the clipboard shortcut icon on my desktop is very useful. Maybe others would also. It is in the Systems32 folder.

Is there any way to get rid of the icons at the far right end of the task bar or tray? I knew how to do this on Windows 98 but can't figure it out on XP.

Thanks,
Bud

Hi Bud,

That's a great idea about the clipboard. I'll have to add that to the book one of these days.

Getting rid of the task bar icons is pretty easy. Of course, I should make you buy Windows XP Home Edition: The Missing Manual, but since you asked:

Right-click in a blank spot on the task bar. From the shortcut menu, choose Properties. In the resulting dialog box, click Customize. Click the name of each icon, and then choose, from its pop-up menu, Always Hide.

Hope this helps!

David
